Farhan, Noor exit in DG Rangers Squash championship
Top seed Farhan Zaman and women no.4 Noor-ul-Huda stunned by opponents in the quarterfinals of 11th DG Rangers Open Squash Championship at the Rangers Jahangir Khan squash complex.
Upsets continue in DG Rangers open squash championship as No.1 Farhan Zaman and women no.4 Noor ul Huda were pulled out of the championship by their opponents in the quarterfinal round. Resilient no.6 seed Ammad Fareed give hard time to Zaman and stretched the match to fifth game and then shocks him with defeat in a match that lasts for 1 hour 58 minutes. The former was home 7-11, 11-5, 11-7, 5-11, 12-10.
It is pertinent to mention here that Farhan could not go far and faced defeat in the second round of recently concluded Pakistan Open at Islamabad. Another low profile Moin Rauf from Punjab extended the first round match against Zaman to the fifth game in the first round of current event.
M. Asim outplayed Ali Bokharo in straight games by 11-6, 11-6, 11-3. Bokhari, in the first round match shocks second seed Ahsan Ayaz. Third seed Tayyab Aslam outlasted Zahir Shah 3-1 by 11-4, 1-11, 11-4, 14-12 and fourth seed Israr Ahmed ousted Shahjahan Khan 3-1 by 8-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-9 and make their ways to reach into last four of the Men’s event.
In women’s event, seventh seed Zoya Khalid cruised to 11-7, 11-6, 11-5 victory over no.4 Noor ul Huda to reach into the semis. Top seed Sadia Gul, no.3 Madian Zafar and sixth seed Faiza Zafar also made to the semifinals of the women event.
Madina Zafar outplayed Zahab K Khan 11-5,11-1,8-11,11-4 while her sister Faiza Zafar defeated Amna Fayyaz 11-5,11-6,11-2 and Sadia Gul ousted Rushna Mehboob 11-6,11-5,11-6.
