Egyptian ElShorbagy crowned Pakistan Open Squash championship

Marwan El Shorbagy overpowered his countryman Mohammad Abouelghar 3-1 to won the final of Pakistan Open Men’s Squash Championship at Mushaf Squash Complex.

 

Marwan cruises Abouelghar completely in the first game as he won comprehensively by 11-3 in just 7 minutes. Abouelghar then took charge and outlasted the No.1 seed with his aggression and downs Marwan by 11-7 in 12 minutes. Both the players were in good form but El Shorbagy changed his style of game and moved into aggressive mood to outpace the challenger in the third game and won it by 11-8 in 12 minutes of play.

Fourth game saw Marwan completely dominating as he played with a little slow pace in the start but later with his strong smashes and bamboozling drop shots, take the 11-6 in 8 minutes and overall he took 39 minutes to down Abouelghar. Both the players hugged each other and El Shorbagy congratulated Marwan for his title victory.

Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) President, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman was the chief guest and he awarded trophies to the players. Former world squash champions Jahangir Khan, Qamar Zaman Khan and PAF officers and a great number of squash lovers were also present on the occasion.
