South Asian Games Bronze medalist kabaddi team rewarded by IPC Ministry

The national kabaddi team’s players, who brought laurel for the country last year by winning a bronze medal in South Asian Games held in Nepal were rewarded by the IPC ministry.

The national kabaddi team’s players, who brought laurel for the country last year by winning a bronze medal in South Asian Games held in Nepal were rewarded by the IPC ministry.

The Indian Kabaddi men's team registered a victory over Pakistan by 49-22 in the South Asian Games 2019.

Pakistan featured in 18 disciplines. Out of 32 gold medals, Pakistan won 14 only in martial arts: karate (6), wushu (3), taekwondo (3) and judo (2).

Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fehmida Mirza distributed cheques among the members of Pakistan’s kabaddi team that performed superbly at the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal from Dec 1-10 last year.

The kabaddi players who got cash prize are Nasir Ali (captain), Mohammad Nadeem, Sajjad Shaukat, Waqar Ali, Mohammad Imran, Ahsan Mahmood, Kashif Razzaq, Akhlaq Hussain, Mudassar Ali, Mohammad Safian, Usman Khalid and Asad Ali. The total amount disbursed among the players was Rs1.5 million.

“I congratulate the young blood on this remarkable feat and ensure ultimate moral and administrative support to all national players who want to represent Pakistan in future as well,” said the IPC minister while addressing the players during the ceremony held at her office.

Giving sports its due importance, the minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan would have delivered awards himself in a mega ceremony if the country was not going through Covid-19 crisis.

Secretary of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Mohammad Sarwar Rana was also present on the occasion and appreciated the IPC minister for awarding players at this hour of need.
