Razzaq, Shareef, Rajia, Nashmia shine in 65th National Track Cycling Championship

About 100 of the nations top riders are participating in the 65th edition of National Track Cycling Championship 2019 at Cycling Velodrome, Lahore.

 
The 65th edition of National Track Cycling Championship continues in full swing at Cycling Velodrome, Lahore.

Mr. Akbar Durrani Secretary IPC inaugurated the championship in a colorful ceremony. 

In Men’s elite 1000m,  Razzaq of SSGC secured top spot by finishing in 1:14:31 followed by Syed Aqib Shah (Punjab) while Zainullah (Balochistan) finished 3rd and Hanzala ended at fourth.
 
Mohammad Shareef of Punjab claimed the top place of Men’s junior 500m by completing the distance in just 00:39:52. Followed by Abdul Hameed (Balochistan) while Aftab (KP) was on 3rd place.

In Women’s junior 500m, Rajia Shabir (SSGC) finished in 00:45:96 to seal the first position. Followed by Haleema (KP) while Humaira Shoukat (Punjab) and Zubaida (Balochistan) ended at 3rd and 4th place respectively.
   
In Women’s junior individual time trial (finals): One lap: Nashmia of Punjab secured the top spot after completing in 00:34:05. Unsa Babar of Islamabad secured second position while Malika Shahid (KP) and Mahnoor (Balochistan) claimed the third and fourth places respectively. 

All provincial cycling association are participating in the event including Islamabad, POF Wah, Biekstan Cycling Club, Karachi and SSGC.

Mr. Nisar Ahmed Secretary General PCF is organizing Secretary of the event. Mr. Muhammad Ali, Javed Khan, Shahzada Butt, Mr. Muzam Khan are members of Organizing Committee.

In his welcome address, Syed Azhar Ali Shah President PCF, appealed to the federal government for provision of funds for the renovation of the cycling velodrome Lahore, he also requested federal and provincial governments to establish one Velodrom in the federal and provincial capitals.

He also requested all provincial local government departments to make provision for cycling tracks in their future residential plans. Mrs. Amna Imran Khan in her address thanked Syed Azhar Ali Shah for being informing about the problems of cycling, she assured that PCF and all other sports that PSB is committed to provide all available facilities to sports.

Mr. Akbar Durrani Secretary IPC in his address thanked Syed Azhar Ali Shah President PCF and all others, he said that we are in need to impose Sports Emergency in Pakistan as sports is the only source to provide recreation and good health to the people of Pakistan. He expressed sorrow on the state of affairs of sports in Pakistan; he assured that IPC will provide all possible facilities to PCF for its endeavors for the promotion of sport of cycling in Pakistan.

Total 24 events of male/female in both elite and junior categories will held in three day championship. About 100 riders and officials are taking part in this event.

On the first day of championship 7 events of both male and female in both elite and junior categories were held.

Chief Guest Mr. Akbar Durrani and guests of honour Mrs. Amna Imran Khan distributed medals among the winners.
