Bannu Green beat Golden Club to clinch Spring Festival 2019 Kabaddi title

Bannu Green clinched the title after defeating defending champion, Golden Club in the final of Bannu Spring Sports Festival Kabbadi event which concluded successfully at Mandan Park Kabaddi Stadium in Bannu.

The Bannu Spring Sports Festival was jointly organized by District Administration, District Government and Regional Sports Officer, Amir Zahid Shah that featured a total of about 22 teams from all across Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.

Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Khan was the honorable chief guest on this occasion along with Chief Organizer, Malik Riaz Khan, Additional Secretary P&D, Shah Mehmood Khan Wazir, Secretary Pakistan Kabaddi Fedetation, Rana Sarwar, international technical official and President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kabaddi Association, Arbab Naseer Khan.

The final match provided great thrill for the sitting spectators and both Bannu Green and Golden Club Bannu gave each other a tough fight. Golden Club, the winner of the last year Spring Sports Festival, got a lead in the first two quarters but later on failed to click in the remaining two quarters dominated by Bannu Green Club. 

Bannu Green was struggling in the first two quarters wherein Golden Club had a firm lead of 14-11 (first quarter) and 22-18 (second quarter) but despite in deficit, Bannu Green staged a strong come back. First, Bannu Green took the lead in the third quarter at 43-40 and later on raced up to victory at 59-57. There was a nick-to-nick fight for the points between both the team but at the end, Bannu Green Club won the final by 59-57 on a close call and named the victory to their side. The finale was contested under the supervision of international kabaddi player, Syed Sultan Shah Bari.

Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Khan along with Malik Riaz, Chief Organizer of this Kabaddi event, gave away trophies and cash prizes worth of Rs. 150,000 while the Runner-Up team bagged Rs. 100,000 along with the trophy. 

Speaking on this occasion, Junaid Khan appreciated Regional Sports Officer, Amir Zahid Shah, District Administration and District Government for holding the Spring Sports Festival into the current year.

He said that the govt is very keen and that is why projects for providing playing facilities at district level has already initiated, followed by ground facilities to be ensured at Union Council.

For the rehabilitation of Bannu Sports Complex the govt has allocated a grant of Rs. 100 million while work on lying of artificial turf at Qazi Mohib Hockey Stadium was completed. He disclosed. He also said, for lying of athletic Tartan Track at Bannu Sports Complex, another grant of Rs. 120 allocated and soon work on the said project would be started. He also announced the construction of boundary wall all around the Mandan Kabaddi Complex Bannu.
