Pakistan misses 12th World Futsal Championship due to Embassy of Argentina's mistake
Pakistan Futsal Team's visa details were not uploaded on the system by the Embassy of Argentina which resulted in the deportation of the team from Dubai airport.
Pakistan Futsal Team was all set to participate in the 12th edition of World Futsal Championship for which the team flew to Dubai but after staying there for 24 hours the team was deported. The team returned to Pakistan at Lahore airport yesterday.
To this issue Pakistan Futsal Federation Secretary, Malik Adnan told that,"The team has been deported. The issue occurred due to a mistake from embassy of Argentina as it had not uploaded the details of visas of our side on the system. The ambassador of Argentina has accepted the mistake and he has been called by the Foreign Office tomorrow. But it will not help us as we have missed the World Cup. Tomorrow we were to face Brazil in our opener,"
He said that three players and one official who had reached Argentina via Doha had also been called back. "Our dream is shattered as we had been looking forward to playing this event for the last four years. We qualified for the World Cup after India refused to play the qualifier against us. Initially last year we had planned the qualifier in Islamabad and then it was shifted to Dubai but still India refused to field its team and so we were given World Cup ticket," Adnan said.
World Association of Futsal, the Argentine Confederation of Futsal and the Ministry Of Sports of the Province of Missions are jointly organizing the Futsal World Cup into the current year that is featuring a total of sixteen (16) nations from all over the world. The nations who are participating includes; the hosts Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, Catalonia, Brazil, Uruguay, Italy, Morocco, Canada, France, Australia, Bolivia, South Africa, Nepal and Curaçao. But due to the Embassy of Argentina's mistake, Pakistan missed this mega futsal event in which the Green-shirts were scheduled to make their debut.
