Army secures top spot in 64th National Track Cycling Championship

As many as 14 teams participated in this 4-day National Men and Women Cycling Championship which successfully concluded at the Qaddafi Stadium Cycling Velodram in Lahore.

Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) in collaboration of SSGC Sports Board organized the 64th edition of National Men and Women Cycling Championship which featured competitions in both male and female categories in more than 20 events.   

A total of fourteen (14) teams belonging to 4 provinces and 5 departments of Pakistan and various other parts of the country were seen racing through the crowd along with other participants to achieve top honors in the championship some of which included: Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Army, WAPDA, PO Wah and SSGC.

On the concluding day of the championship, Army cyclists etched their name on the top of the winners list with each of their players winning gold medals and also the trophy of the championship. Cyclists belonging to Army team managed to win in both men and women categories as well as Men Elite, Women Elite and Men Junior’s competitions.

The National Men and Women Cycling Championship 2018 witnessed much of the new talent coming out as there were various cyclists from all over the country who participated the very first time into this championship and among this new talent a team will be formed that will participate in the next year’s championship in Indonesia named as ‘Asian Track Cycling Championship’. Pakistan Cycling Federation is trying to send at least 2 to 4 of their cyclists to must take part in this international cycling event.

DG Sports Board Punjab, Nadeem Sarwar was the honorable chief guest who distributed prizes among the high achievers of the championship.
