Gujrat Warriors win Pakistan’s First Super Kabaddi League

Gujrat Warriors outplayed Faisalabad Sherdils by 38-26 and win the final of Pakistan’s First Super Kabaddi League at Nishtar Sports Complex, Lahore.

 
The final of the Super Kabaddi league was played between third rank teams of their pools, Gujrat Warriors and Faisalabad Sherdils where warriors defeated Sherdils by 38-26 to clinch the trophy of Super Kabaddi League. Gujrat, who reached in final after defeating Kashmir Jaanbaaz in the semifinal while Faisalabad Sherdils had defeated Sahiwal Bulls by 33-24 to secure their berth in the final.  

In the final encounter Gujarat Warriors produced a skillful game and took the lead in the first half as they did not allowed Sherdils to play freely throughout the match. Gujarat Warriors fought hard to maintain their lead and not let the match slip away from their hands till the end. Gujarat Warriors raider played marvelously especially Tahseen as he fight hard to further enhance the lead. Sherdils tried hard to rule the day but the match ended in Gujarat’s favor as they outplayed Shedils with a big margin of 38-26.

Gujarat Warriors raider Tahseen nominated as “The player of the final” while Nasir Ali of Faisalabad Sherdils was declared “The players of the league”.

Baba Ali of Iran received an overwhelming appreciation from Pakistan. "Glad to see how supportive Pakistanis are towards international as well as national players," he said.

Chairman SKL Haider Ali Daud praised the arrangements, security agencies for all the efforts to restore peace in the country and for security of the SKL. In the prize distribution ceremony, Haider Ali Daud Khan, Chairman SKL along with Khwaja Shariq of Telenor and Muhammad Sarwar Rana of PKF gave the trophies and other awards to the teams and players.

The winning team Gujrat Warriors received Rs One Million while the other finalists Faisalabad Sherdils got Half a million rupees in prize money.

The tournament, hosted by Strawberry Sports Management, was played between 10 franchise-based teams which represented different cities of the country. The teams were picked through a draft and were divided into two pools.

Pool A consisted of Gujrat Warriors, Gwadar Bahadars, Lahore Thunders, Sahiwal Bulls and Karachi Zorawars. Pool B was made up of Islamabad All-Stars, Faisalabad Sherdils, Peshawar Haiders, Multan Sikandars and Kashmir Jaanbaaz.
