Tour De Khunjerab Cycle race to starts from May 12

Gilgit-Baltistan government in collaboration with Pakistan Cycling Federation has taken the initiative of Tour De Khunjerab cycle race to promote tourism in the region.

Tour De Khunjerab would start at an elevation of 4200ft and climb up all the way to Khunjerab at 15400ft, an ascent of more than 10,000ft from start to finish.

The cycle race will start from Saturday May 12 from the Bab-e-Gilgit, officials told the media man. Hunza Administration is taking the initiative of the cycle race in collaboration with Pakistan cycling federation.

The aim of the cycle race is to promote tourism in the region and inform the world that Pakistan is peaceful and sports loving nation, especially northern area of Pakistan are not only peaceful but worth watching. Hunza administration has initiated arrangements make the event successful.

According to official schedule, first leg of 73km race will start on May 12 from Bab-e-Gilgit and stay night at Rakaposhi viewpoint in Nagar. National and International participants of the race will spend the second night at Sost in Upper Hunza and the second leg of 87km race will proceed on 13th May towards Khunjerab at a height of 15400 feet.

The concluding ceremony will be held in Karimabad (Hunza) on Sunday May 13. Almost all the national and one international team to participate in the event. Tent cities will be established at Rakaposhi viewpoint and Passu for cyclists. The Race is being organized by the GB Government aimed at to promote tourism.
